Golf championships have evolved into 'tours' and although the system evolved more by trial and error rather, tours have become great honours to be a part of on a Championship Golf Course.

Championship Golf Course, golf The pioneer of the touring system is The PGA Tour, however it is relatively uncertain when its established date was, although The PGA of America was set up and established in 1916. The PGA Tour organises many week to week events in US, including the FedEx Cup, The Players Championship, as well as the biennial Presidents Cup.

The tours that the PGA Tour hosts throughout the Championship Golf Courses are The PGA Tour, The Champions Tour which is for golfers over the age 50 and over, and the Nationwide Tour which has a greater presence than all of the other tours.

The PGA Tour also holds a Golf Tournament which allows the top 25 golfers to receive privileges to play on the following year's PGA Tour. The remaining 75 place finishers receive full privileges to the Nationwide Tour. It is a great honour to receive privileges to enter these Golf Championships as without privileges they are rather expensive to enter. The top 125 winners of the PGA Tour provides a tour card for the following season, and by winning a PGA Tour event itself, provides a tour card with a minimum of two years, and for each additional win, a further extra year is added onto the card for a maximum of 5 years.

The Ryder Cup is a Golf Trophy, and is awarded in the Ryder Cup matches. This match is jointly administered by the PGA European Tour, and the PGA of America and teams from Europe and the USA take part.

As such, the venue alternates between Championship Golf Courses in the United States and in Europe. The 2010 Ryder Cup Match will be held in the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales. Other courses that have held this competition in Britain are; The Belfry in Warwickshire (2002), Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey (1977), and Muirfield Links in East Lothian, Scotland (1973).

Championship Golf Course, tapping in The Open Championship or 'The British Open' is one of the oldest of the 4 major championships in the professional golfing arena. The Open is also the only major which is held outside of the USA.

It is held annually every third Friday of July and over its weekend and is the third major to take place in the year after The Masters, US Open, and held before the PGA Championship round.

The Open is held on a course throughout Scotland or England. The Old Course at St Andrews hosts The British Open around every 5 years.

Several Championship Golf Courses that have been hosts in England are the Royal St George's Golf Club, which will be hosting The Open in 2011; Royal Birkdale Golf Club which hosted the Championship in 2008; Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club which will host the 2012 Open; and the Royal Liverpool Golf Club which hosted The Open in 2006.
